Euralille Biotope, Lille, France
Geotub improved worksite efficiency and was chosen as a cost-effective formwork for the construction of the Biotope office building in Lille, France. Our Geotub was the preferred formwork solution for circular columns because the busy construction site never had enough available crane time. Geotub formwork is completely crane-independent, which makes it more efficient than conventional metal formwork and more affordable than expendable cardboard tubes.
Geotub provided multiple benefits:
- Time- and cost-saving due to less machinery needed to complete the work,
- Lower construction costs due to reusable formwork,
- Lean construction with low waste,
- Sustainability improved with LEED points,
- Safer construction site.
Biotope Office Building is designed by famous Henning Larsen Architects (Denmark) and Keurk Architecture (Lille). Biotope is a 7-story building with a 30,000 m2 surface, originally planned to be the HQ of the EMA (European Medicines Agency), and later taken over for the government offices of Lille Métropole. Biotope is certified BREEAM Excellent and Well Gold and has a vast green roof surface.
