Sydney Light Rail manhole construction, Moore Park, Australia

Geopanel was chosen for the construction of the Sydney Light Rail project in Moore Park suburb, located 3 km southeast of Sydney. The project required the pouring of large 2.5 x 1.9 x 2.4 m manholes for providing access to the sewer system. 

The client needed a formwork system capable of functioning in a challenging building site exposed to live traffic, within a confined workspace and a tight time frame. Geopanel was reusable and lightweight, permitting fast set-up of the pits without the use of cranes and mechanical lifting equipment. 

After the first pit was completed, the client decided to build more manholes with Geopanel, making further savings in machinery and building time. Geoplast also gave comprehensive on-site training, ensuring the construction team gained maximum benefit from the building process.
